i think it’s more of a need to confirm that i am the ethnicities i’ve been told i am (since I’m like super white passing yk) also i have a rough family tree but not much else

Reach out to your family perhaps? I mean, it's your choice to make! But just know that these tests that tell people their "ethnicities" are quite misleading. People are made up of a little bit of everything in their history, but DNA cannot tell us things like "14% Filipino" jsyk

If you're looking at it from an evolutionary perspective, National Geographic did a Human Genome Project where they traced the ancestry of populations of people you might find that offers insight into migrations.

Paternal testing is not 23andMe. There are actual paternity tests for that purpose which don't collect your information to sell to third parties. I was not referring to those for a reason.
