Governor @louleonguerrero what kind of concerns have been raised with the military about this? What precautions are they taking testing-wise?
I am not comfortable with knowing that 11,000 military servicemembers will be staying on Guam for 2 weeks spreading COVID. @anumitakaur

Excuse me, I was referring to the 4,000 sailors aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt which resulted in over 1200 positive COVID test cases earlier this year, not the Ronald Reagan (although the Ronald Reagan ALSO had positive COVID cases this month too)https://news.usni.org/2020/09/04/sailors-test-positive-for-covid-19-on-carrier-uss-ronald-reagan …

They WILL be spreading COVID if they are allowed to be out in the public, with that many people it's just a given. That's 7% of Guam's population. Also, a scientific study that came out of the Roosevelt samples found nearly 20% of them were asymptomatic.https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/69/wr/mm6923e4.htm …

I am SICK of being the "shield" or "tip of the spear" for the U.S., a country completely mishandling the pandemic, doesn't allow us to vote, that just keeps building us up as a target in the Pacific.

As long as the people of Guam don't say anything, nothing will be done. Who else on Guam is with me?? Who else is saying anything? Planning anything? Because I think you might know if there's someone down to protest, it's me. But I can't be the only one planning man.

Update: some are already arrived, since WEDNESDAY. So nobody wanted to make it known until they got here. I see.https://www.postguam.com/news/local/valiant-shield-military-exercise-participants-housed-in-guam-hotels/article_258e5718-f249-11ea-8620-d7af451b1c09.html …

The only comfort I can think of to provide is the fact that most of these ships have been at sea for a long time now. This means, theoretically, that they are all negative. The Navy cannot afford to have a strike group have a COVID out break.

Whether they take it as seriously as they should and totally isolate these sailors is a different question but I really hope that is the case.
