Quick tip for those who don't know "Nen" is a term of endearment given to us by our elders (aunties, uncles, grandparents and parents). It is NOT something you call someone close to you in age unless you're fucking with them
. You can stick with "dao" for your peers lol

But also people do use it differently as language evolves, so for me, I love it when anyone calls me "Nen" because its a cute term of endearment to me. Even Twitter acquaintances. I don't mind
perhaps bc nobody in my fam calls me that, I have a separate nickname they use.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

Ahh I see. I also have family nicknames, but in my family my cousins don't men each other unless we're like sarcastic lmao. So unless it's from an elder I'm not used to it sounding endearing to me

I get where you're coming from now. I was wondering why some people were so strict with it actually, but then I realized that I didn't have my family call me "Nen", it was always older dudus Chamorro ladies at govt offices and gupots
So the way I see it is different.1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -

That's what I mean, I don't hear it from my cousins or my friends, just older people. So when people I don't know irl, from online or wherever that are close to me in age that call me it I'm like....what? It doesn't feel nice. Lmao

That's fair. I'm still ok with it though I grew up hearing it from older peeps too. Each to their own!
