Exactly. And the Catholic Church has been somewhat active on this issue — bringing in more women and non-white people as saints over the past decades. That’s what AOC is saying the US needs to do as well as we move into the 21st century.

And to the point about not having women or people of color, every state chooses which two statues to send to the National Statuary Hall Collection. https://www.aoc.gov/explore-capitol-campus/art/about-national-statuary-hall-collection … So it was the people of Hawaii that chose St. Damian to represent the state. @AOC used a bad example. There are many statues of white suppremacists and colonialists but she picked someone who actually cared. I agree there are too few statues of women but she shouldnt have mixed the discussion about women's oppression with the issue of black downpression.Thanks.
