I don't think there can be meaningful discourse on a question that is so loaded on Twitter tbh.

I just want to know what the game plan is. I feel it’s very malicious to be snarky about tourists returning when real people are suffering because of the lack of them. However if there’s a realistic plan to help people immediately without tourism that I’m not seeing, teach me

Please read. I am one of those "real people". Literally both my jobs depend on the tourism industry.pic.twitter.com/vFiYn3Buug

Thanks for pointing out the impossibilities I set up with my question. How can I pose my POV in a fair light? Also, does everyone else’s tweets containing snarky, negative views on tourism stand up to this same level of scrutiny? Let’s be fair to both sides

There is no "both sides" to this is my point. "Let's be fair to both sides" doesn't adequately cover the number of people who have, are, and will be hurting in the future regardless of what happens. That is all. Love you Pete. Expand your heart a little more for us in the front.

Love you too Lani. I’m only vying for their return because Guam has the pandemic under control and with the right testing procedures, we can safely host visitors from low risk countries. We saved lives and now we need to save livelihoods.

I get you. As someone in-between, I get it. But perhaps the answer is that there is no real plan no matter what. We did not expect this to happen, but now that it has, it has cast our shortcomings into sharp relief & now we all have to figure out what's important to ourselves.
