It's so crazy that my colonizer last name is pronounced differently between Spaniards, Filipinos, and Chamorros.
When I came back to Guam again after almost 3 years of being gone, I teared up when the customs officer pronounced my last name correctly, saying "Welcome back"

I got so used to spelling it out in the states that I still do it when creating profiles or whatever here on Guam & people just look at me like I thought they were stupid and unable to spell my last name. No hon, nobody in the U.S. could spell it right with my pronounciation.
