You need to try fried saksak dude. It's called sagamelon in NMI. Hardly anyone catches here on Guam but it is my favorite fried fish. And if you're down to eat triggerfish lol you should try it.pic.twitter.com/qyq5nEpAra

Lol a lot of people I know call it a dumb fish because in water it literally watches you from like two feet away and using line it’ll bite after being thrown in but I’m down

You even catch it fishing hook & line? Random! Lmao. I mean what is a "dumb fish" really though? This implies that there are levels to intelligence where I just feel like they're all just trying to survive in diff ways.

Lol I think with all the questions I might be talking about a different fish that looks similar because this one isn’t hard to find or catch anywhere near rocks I’ll find them

It's not hard to find or catch with a sling! Which is why I'm so surprised people don't get them here. But taste-wise, this beats everything else fried for me. I just never see anyone catch it with a rod & reel and I grew up fishing rod & reel lol.

But I did notice between Guam and Saipan fish markets, people here like a more limited variety of fish. Mainly parrots and pelagics. I used to do fish market surveys on both islands, so I got to see what each market got for fresh fish before it was sold.

Yeah you’re I mean almost everyone I know on island top choice of fish is parrot. I mean fried it’s mine too but grilled is stone fish or the ballonfish never tried frying them but I want to

Parrot is just aight to me lmao it is overhyped here for sure. It's like cow: fat, matures fast, gives a lot of meat for a reef fish w/ very few bones. If you like quantity, its ok. In terms of taste? Very mild. I like it best with kimchi mayo & lemon wrapped in foil on a grill.

But to each their own! My tastes are probably not like yours, just trying to give you a suggestion if you like fried reef fish, give this one a try.
