Next time someone calls you "par", ask them. I personally don't think so btjm. I think people hear other people saying it, then adopt it too, but depends on the circumstances. If they're Chamorro, its from "kumpaire". You don't hear country Americans saying "par" for partner.

As somebody else pointed out, "pari" could be the Tagalog way of saying "friend", so if they're Filipino I give them a pass lmao. But jsyk that "pari" is the Tagalog word for friend. So him saying "pari" for kumpaire' sounds....off? Idk I grew up in Saipan we just say kumpaire'.
