Pictured above are two teeth from the silky shark, both from the latte period. One was found on a male, and the other on a body where the sex was undetermined. Notice the drilled holes? Must be some kind of ornament. Fucken dope. Such artifacts have also been found at Pågat.
Here’s the thing about a silky shark—they’re pelagic and roam all over the place. They love hunting tuna. This is all conjecture, but I bet someone was fishing and got taxed, boy. Then he got mad and killed the shark, took it on land and made a necklace.pic.twitter.com/1GCQuC9351
So being a good fisherman got you praise back in the day. I’m sure this motherfucker was BANIDOSU after he made his necklace
shit I don’t blame him.
Now let’s go back further in time to the pre-latte era. These are fucken TIGER SHARK TEETH. Found on a woman between the age of 25-35 when she died. Fuck Joe Exotic. Fuck Carol Baskin. She’s the real Tiger Queen.pic.twitter.com/ydyHCiPbpj
There’s no larger predatory shark in the Marianas than the Tiger Shark. Par, this thing can get up to 16 feet long. The average ocean going vessel back in the day was between 20-30 feet (latte era). I don’t know if they made ‘em longer in pre-latte but I doubt it.
Now, it was men who fished, so who knows how this woman got these teeth
point is, someone likely offed this BEAST using wood and bone tools, loaded it into a vessel barely larger than the shark, then sailed home to make a necklace.
Fuck our ancestors were amazing. Don’t kill sharks tho, fam. They’re good for the environment.
Imagine: post-Latte Marianas. Dude in the men's house is a badass peskadot, goes out to the ocean to fish with the men. It's a good time, plenty of fish to be caught. Their first catch (supposedly to feed the men & be used for bait) has a few sharks attention. They follow them.
The men know this but fish anyway, this time throwing in a large baited hook to troll. They catch something big, but a shark goes in for the steal. They bring it up to the surface, the badass peskadot sees it and DIVES IN, armed with a knife. He goes for the kill & is successful.
The men are appreciative, murmuring praise & thanks to him. He pulls his trophy into the boat. They continue to fish, catching one more large catch enough for their village before turning back. Upon return, he takes a few teeth & gives it to the woman who has caught his eye.
