One Guam is a lie, always has been. Its just truly showing now that there's an actual crisis happening

Navy wives don’t represent the military as a whole. The military can’t help solve the problem if it lets people on base and the virus spreads. It also goes both ways. There are people who are on the base who are quarantined and can’t go off base to do things. I’m one of them

In WWII the entire US Navy presence left here immediately following their dependents. Leaving Guam defenseless to the Japanese. If you knew our history youd know that the gofundme's were just the first sign. This segregation energy during a crisis doesn't bode well.

They left to support neighboring islands that already had been invaded by japan. If the navy didn’t leave, marines never would’ve freed those islands and then Guam. Sometimes in order to move forward you have to go back. I know the history, I was born and raised on guam

Can you just stop trying to justify the use of our islands by the military??? We are sick of it. If you were "born & raised" on Guam they fed you even worse history than in the NMI. The military abandoned the islands bc they were overwhelmed. Guam was never a priority, even now

These islands are NOT "freed", we are colonized for our strategic location and had much taken from us. You as a military member and non-native could never understand, so pause your dialogue & allow us our space. Doesn't matter if you were born & raised here (if you really were).

Hi 👋🏾Not trying to be a jerk here but @AsfahaHaile you do not know the history. The Navy left days ahead of the invasion and evacuated ONLY white dependents. It wasn’t in defense of another island. It wass an evacuation. The forces that returned did so 3 years later.

You’re right, but you also have to understand that they left because staying meant war, which they were tying to avoid. And of course they only took military dependents, I’m sure the native people probably didn’t want to leave the island.

Sir, you are not the face/the minds of the military at the time. You coming up w/ all these "they were trying to avoid war" (we were LITERALLY at war then) excuses really don't discount the fact that it sucks for us to be used & discarded by the military then & now no matter what

Like I’ve said before, never said it doesn’t suck, just said that them putting on a quarantine wasn’t a bad move. I wasn’t trying at any point to make this about justifying military presence on guam. I just don’t think it’s fair to call it abandonment.

It wasn't a true quarantine because people were not restricted from leaving base either. It was just a way to serve less of the "local" population in the time of crisis. There's no good way to justify it. It just shows the DoD's true interest on our island
