I feel like, idk, this story is too early for any real conclusions to be drawn. I doubt the population in Palau will overfish their reefs to the point where it's problematic... I am glad they've shifted from tuna to reef, so long as the reef fishing isn't overfishing.

Yeah the headline made me skeptical, but when I saw it was the Palau residents themselves coming to these conclusions it seems more credible. Just goes to show that even the best intended environmental laws need to be carefully implemented to avoid any accidental problems.

hmm....I see where you're coming from, but if we had to get to "wait until everything is perfect before implementing" then nothing will get done. I feel it's a bold move that later down the line will prove to be a wise one, we just can't see it yet.

It sure is. The preserve itself is thriving. However, it is true that they are eating more reef fish, and that tuna is not as abundant at stores and restaurants.
