And all other living expenses/commodities will also increase. Yall can make $50 minimum wage but businesses will just increase their prices accordingly (and at times at a unfavorable ratio)

Hate it to break it to ya, but they BEEN increasing. Minimum wage been needing to play catch up.
While I agree with you that everyone needs a higher base pay, my point is that they mask wage increases with false pretenses and take credit for improving people's lives but really it's usually a 1 step forward, 3 step back kind of thing. It's barely a improvement, at best.
With the high cost of rent/gas, & the increasing costs of everything else due to those dumb tariffs, victories like this are a must. I feel like people associate cost of living and tie it too much into the minimum wage when in reality our COL is more influenced by other forces.
Guam is a unique case. I don’t think min wage will help. It’ll hurt our biggest industry, tourism, since the dollar is hella strong rn and businesses increasing prices means tourists’ will look at cheaper destinations. Guam needs more high-quality jobs and better government.
Yes! Agreed, totally. Our position out here with the Jones Act, military, and just so many other factors contribute to this. But that's not to say a min wage increase isn't necessary. It'll hurt, but it's very necessary. We can't be expecting people to exist on these low wages.
Nobody is expecting a living wage, but everything is only going to be increasing in cost. Everything has been increasing in cost. To expect the wages to stay stagnant while housing/transport increases is not how you take care of your people. Businesses can't always be priority.
You’re right. Wages shouldn’t stay stagnant. However, the answer isn’t min wage increase as that tends to increase prices everywhere because increased inflation tends to follow. I should’ve said better paying jobs instead of high-quality. The issue with GovGuam still stands.
But, I see where you guys are coming from. Actually talked it over last night with my man (he's an economics major). We had a great discussion and he got me thinking of the business side of things of course. I do feel like this is a BIG problem of the govt.
