I went into a sandal shop there & maybe bc I'm darker skinned/a woman/don't look high-class or whatever the sales people were NOT HELPFUL/RUDE to me. My man was LIVID bc they helped him so quickly & politely. He dragged me outta there saying "we are NOT spending money here!"

I grew up w/ a Filipina "friend" who would sometimes buy me whitening soap & lotion cause she didnt want a brown friend. It's only been the last 5 years or so that I've been comfortable w/ my brown skin.

I'm glad you're comfortable with it. It wasn't til a few years ago that I realized I was too, but I'm still terrified of getting sunburnt and skin cancer!
