ok, interesting! I'm curious to learn which islands Carolinian refers to (in nationality not language) since geographically Chuuk is in the Caroline Islands. like Satawal and other small islands? also I wonder if the meaning varies on Saipan vs Guam. thoughts @ChamorroTweets?

What's the meaning of Carolinian to you (who I assume grew up on Guam)? We were taught NMI history on Saipan, which includes a bit about how Carolinians migrated there.

This is true. Chamolinian is anyone who's part Carolinian part Chamorro. Or did you mean that the Carolinian people who are a part of the CNMI call themselves Chamolinian?

@punpungrel what do you think about this?1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -
I am Refaluwasch part Chuukese. No, we are not Palauans. We came from the outer islands of Yap. Some migrated further from the North regions of Chuuk. Our language is always the key to dotting our roots and origination. We all speak the same language but diff dialect.

Can I just ask since I’m curious?
Chamorros are one of the two indigenous peoples of the CNMI. Is it wrong to say Carolinians are the other unique indigenous people? Or should we only say Refaluwasch?2 replies 0 retweets 2 likes -

It could just be my arrogance, but I always thought of Carolinian as the way we say Refaluwasch in “English”. Kinda like how Japanese is “English” and Nihon-jin is Japanese.
