I will admit though, some of my more profound reading experiences have been with books that took me months to plow through the first few chapters bc of poor character development or HEAVY use of colloquial language. The best example for me is Uncle Tom's Cabin.

I can see why a book like that sparked a revolution. I can see the importance of learning language & how it dictates your life and can take you to the next level. Reading, writing, and speaking well is an art, but you don't need a private school education to get good at it.
