I am from Saipan, capital island of the CNMI, a part of 15 islands that make up the Marianas, situated within Micronesia, which is a part of Oceania and encompassed by the Pacific Ocean. Keep in mind that ALL of these names were created by and imposed on us by colonizers(!)

One positive thing to come out of the thread on Bali is that many people are hearing for the first time about the genocide perpetrated by Indonesia in West Papua, where there is a thriving Black Lives Matter movement.

please don't forget disabled people when you're talking about minimum wage. we can LEGALLY be paid below it. there is no livable minimum wage unless disabled people are included.

To ethically travel to colonies, you have to ask the Indigenous people who’s land you’re going to, if you can visit. You also have to accept the fact that they can refuse your stay.

America leaves the masses ignorant to our histories, movements, and each other in order to keep us under the white supremacist's foot. This knowledge is power.

This person is an influencer on insta and Is a settler on stolen Hawaiian Kingdom land, but has the Audacity to tell Hawaiians to “get over it, move on” about the overthrow as if we don’t suffer for it everyday while he literally benefits off our trauma as a settler. Trash

128 years later we’re still fighting the effects of the overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom. This is not ancient history, the pain of this event is ingrained in our DNA. If you want a better future for Hawaiʻi, independence is the way. Political Independence for Hawaiʻi is the goal

: What tools did you use to organize the literature you gathered for your research? Anyone find bibtex/zotero/other software useful? Bc I got a binder full of readings from undergrad to now that probably make sense to reference in my lit review/thesis 😅
