As far as the articles I linked to, I chose them because they were [mostly] quick reads, and in line with the article she sent me—1) This is Twitter, and 2) I doubt she's interested in reading whitepapers.
"This statement is the same as the argument for conversion therapy." False equivalence. "Undergoing...procedure is not mutilation or harmful." Is it any different than [voluntary] circumcision/female genital mutilation? Isn't it harmful if they end up regretting it?

Do you think that someone can just walk into a doctors office and request the operation and receive it the next day? They go through multiple medical evaluations, both physical and psychological. At the end, it’s the individual’s choice. Female circumcision isn’t usually a 1/3

choice. It’s forced on women. Nor is it undergone to alleviate stress imposed by women who are born uncircumcised but identify as circumcised women. I have never heard of an example of this. However, if it does exist and the woman is deemed fit to make said decision by a 2/3

medical professional, then the decision is hers. If she regrets is at a later date, then she needs to live w/ that decision like every other. 3/3

1) No. 2) You missed my point—all I was saying is that the procedure itself is [technically] mutilation. (Many opponents of circumcision refer to it as mutilation.) It's not a pretty word, but it's not inaccurate either. 3) So it's potentially harmful then.
