Ask someone you know about themselves, how they are doing and any concerns they have — and then listen. You may be surprised about how much you learn when you’re listening.

  2. Reminder: Talking about mental health doesn't have to be awkward. Today is Day, so whether it's a chat over a brew, a text to a mate or a share on social media, choose to talk about mental health.

2/2 previous education we need to make sure we have the support and access to reasonable adjustments in place not only locally but nationally otherwise we will lose potentially good staff when they start to struggle and feel they have no choice but to leave.

1/2 I think you are probably right however we have discussed with the influx of new officers who mostly will have a diagnosis because of the new routes of entry, ie degree, a lot will need support but will have experienced support elsewhere say in the education world or

Yesterday I watched a colleague save the life of a 13 year old girl who was the wrong side of the railings on a motorway bridge. I dread to think what would have happened without his heroic actions. 💙👏🏼 Log 445 of 27/01

Tomorrow I will be involved in hosting a dyslexia pop in session at HQ between 10.30 and 12.30. We are looking for good practices within force as well as how we can support those offices/staff who feel they need it. If your around and have a spare ten minutes come and chat to us

All our thoughts and condolences from to our fallen colleague, his family and his colleagues. Devastating news. As a close neighbour have already been in contact with Cumbria to offer whatever support is needed. RIP

Last week I had meetings with HR about updating our Maternity, Parernity and IVF policies - with particular consideration to updating the language used to ensure same sex couples are incorporated. What do other forces call Paternity Leave?

My research shows that officers who had access to this guide are more likely to feel confident recognising when someone may be . Thanks to the for sending copies which will be distributed as part of our current Autism training programme.

Smoking in report rooms was the norm. Now few officers smoke. Over time organisational culture change. Our task is to influence the change. The effect of well-being programs implemented today may not be felt for a generation. The tree we plant today will give shade tomorrow.

Well put hopefully we will get to that stage. Looking after wellbeing and mental health is so important and links to physical health so much

The College of Policing is to review its policy around Colour Vision Deficiency (CVD) tests. At present, officers who suffer from CVD often lose the opportunity to carry Taser but in future they could be eligible to take a functional test
