I don't think encrypting will help, they will just make you decrypt it or refuse entry

Can confirm. They can keep your electronics for 30 days or indefinitely if they deem it necessary even after you give the password. Refusal to give the password is will result in confiscation.

Also, probably covered in the report, but make sure to shut down before landing, since they can force you to use your fingerprint but cannot force you to surrender a password. This only helps if encrypted.

And having a text from your lawyer on the phone can help, since that's covered by attorney-client privilege. (I get stopped a lot.)
