phone update: w/ the generous help of friends + kind strangers, i was able to get an Apple refurbished iPhone; if my experiences w/ my late Algol (iPhone 8 Plus, lasted 4+ years of heavy use) are any indication, i’ll avoid Vimes’ Boots’ing myself and the expense’ll be justified
