  1. WA's Zac Incerti has unfortunately missed out on a heat swim this morning for the men's 4x100m freetyle relay. Cam McEvoy, James Magnussen, Jack Cartwright and James Roberts to see us into the final, with Kyle Chalmers to be injected tonight.

Yet another world record for our 4 by 100m freestyle golden girls: 3min.30.05sec. They just keep lowering the mark.

Privileged to watch Sally Pearson run in Perth in January. Looked for all the world like she was a certainty for a third straight 100m hurdles gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in her home town. Press conference called for 11am Perth time with head coach and team doctor.

I don’t know what it was like for those watching on TV but it was incredible to be inside the stadium for the Comm Games opening ceremony tonight. They nailed it.

I have always loved Christine Anu, but that rendition of my island home with the rapping and didgeridoos was sensational.

Mark Knowles says he was shocked to be named Australia’s flag bearer. There would be few more worthy people of the honour. One of the great people in Australian sport.

I thought Christina Matthews and Cameron Bancroft spoke really well. Matthews articulated the whole situation just about better than anyone has in the past week. Bancroft fronted up, took responsibility. Let's let him move on now.

Courtney Bruce is the new West Coast Fever captain. Great to have a West Aussie in the role. Fellow defender Stacey Francis vice-captain and Shannon Eagland into the leadership group.

Entertaining first AFL game . Good to see a West Aussie burn, though sadly for the visitors. West Coast coach on Lance Franklin: “He was just too hard to stop tonight, we tried everything under the sun.”

Familiar story for Fremantle, dominated much of the play, particularly early, but struggled to score. A few classy touches from Brayshaw, Wilson a nice addition too.
