    The peace & security work of the UN is not exempt from the impacts of climate change. We need that supports conflict-affected countries most impacted. This week's Security Council debate on climate & security is crucial to envisioning multilateral solutions.

    The effects of climate change are particularly profound when they overlap with fragility & conflict. We simply cannot achieve lasting peace & security without investments in resilience & adaptation. My remarks to the Security Council:

    The peace agreement in South Sudan requires 35% representation of women in all political, governance & security structures. I spoke to women leaders who are urging compliance. Discussed w/them how UN can support progress on security sector reform, constitution-making & elections.
