Many thanks to our collaborators, Drs. Sawtell and Haynes! Excited to continue exploring how to effectively manipulate immunoregulatory NK cells to enhance vaccines for HIV and other pathogens.

A great review on strategies of KIR assessment models, considering their basic scientific principles, clinical utility, and benefits to post-transplant outcomes after haemopoietic progenitor cell transplantation (HPCT)

yet kept our paper on the leading global cause of birth defects and brain damage () for 6 wks and only returned without review when we asked the status, as well as discouraged . Not just outbreak science needs this kind of rapid communication

For those who are indignant at bioRxiv for the recent coronavirus/HIV preprint. I think bioRxiv worked perfectly and showed how much BETTER it can be then the current peer review system.

Autoantibody suppression of immunoregulatory NK cells? That is an intruiging idea with implications in multiple physiological settings. Or autoantibody suppression of NK cell anti-pathogen activity and worse disease from less well-controlled replication of herpesviruses, etc.

IMO, this is a win for and science. A paper is presented and multiple critiques and rebuttals follow by the end of the day. The self-correcting process is transparent for both scientists and the public.

Another grant application rejection, making 3 for 3 as a PI. This is not a sob story but want to post every rejection so others know it's part of daily research life and we should talk about it more.

Another important scientific publication from UC Transplant today was highlighted in the journal Transplantation. For the first time we show that within 2 weeks we can tell the impact of rejection treatment for the most dangerous type of rejection- antibody mediated rejection!
