One final thing on this: I’ve just read The Full Brexit’s policy on the Irish border. It says Britain must “reassert its sovereignty over Northern Ireland”, and describes “republican grouplets” as “the armed wing of the European Union”. Just bonkers. https://www.thefullbrexit.com/irish-border https://twitter.com/L__Macfarlane/status/1113845225997336582 …

Lots to agree with in this piece, but its omissions sum up what I think are the key problems with Lexit. THREAD: https://www.newstatesman.com/politics/uk/2019/04/defeat-far-right-left-must-embrace-socialist-and-internationalist-brexit …

Just because they want to remember what a real "no go zone" looks like.

Good grief. Not loving the hint near the end that it’s merely cowardice/wimpishness preventing a willingness to send in the British Army. I’m old enough to remember when border posts were regularly attacked, the way that threat is breezily dismissed by this lot is worrying

I suggest they watch the bbc4 documentry about the irish boarder, on last night, the boarder is over 300 miles long, with thousands of crossing points.

I dare say you wouldn't associate your own position with AEIP's either though. They've got an article on their website right now saying anyone on the left who wants to leave the EU is a Nazi. No exaggeration. Reality is the left, leave or remain, is fragmented over many positions

Sure, but that was one person expressing their view in an article. What I’m referring to is from the section of TBF’s website called ‘policy proposals’. This is an outfit whose purpose claims to be “to revive a genuine left internationalism” with lots of prominent left supporters

Surely “British reassert Sovereignty in NI” must have an impact on GFA and citizens rights? Never mind the “armed wing” fookwittery

Incredible, especially given the stated aim of convening a "better, more democratic future" from the left. Politically illiterate on Ireland & violence, plus basic errors that are really Freudian slips (Britain/UK elided). Old Skool Brit Nationalism, nothing left or new about it.

"It is also not what Remain supporters in Northern Ireland voted for. If they had been asked to choose between unifying with Ireland or voting for Brexit, many say they would have voted Brexit." False. If it's May's Brexit it's evens. If no-deal it's pro-unity. @LucidTalk Bill?
