I grew up with friends, male and female, who had lost Fathers, Grandfathers, Uncles, Brothers, Sisters, Mothers, Aunts in WW2. My Grandma lost male and female family in WWI November 11 has always been special to my parents, grandparents and relatives.

My husband who is Yorkshire England born suffered loss of relatives but also food and other shortages because much was sent to the Armed Forces, without complaint.

As a kid, it was just another day for me. As an adult with kids of my own, I am forever grateful and think about our veterans all through the year. Their sacrifices give me the life that I have, and am forever in their debt.

My grandfather John S Bonnell of PEI served with fellow Islanders in the trenches of France in WW1. His mentor EO Brown of York was killed in the Battle of Hill 70. I’ve been to his grave in France 3 X. My grandfather also wrote Britons Under Fire to persuade the US to join WW2
