We are deeply disappointed that the Assembly and the Senate have voted to pass S2866/A4372. New Jersey needs real transparency for dark money, but not at the cost of gutting anti-corruption and campaign finance rules, and undermining ELEC's independence.

Members of the For the Many NJ coalition testified at the Senate Budget hearing today to urge lawmakers to prioritize New Jersey's working families — not big corporations. Trickle down tax cuts won't fund the vital public services New Jersey's families need.

NJ senate passed S2866 even tho NOBODY has testified for it & there is rare unity in opposing it "At committee hearings, many activists & grps indicated opposition to the measure, &— at least recently — nobody has testified in favor... The oppo has come from the left & right."

Now speaking, Senator Bucco calls it "a bad bill with a nice name," and calls out the fact that this bill would also do away with protections against pay-to-play at the local level.

Senate Bill 2866 is up in the Senate. Speaking eloquently, , describes how the bill allows more money in politics and overturns the checks and balances between the executive and the legislature in the appointment of ELEC commissioners.
