I'm not joking, either. I'm not sure what happens to me cognitively when my brain realizes there are four people at the table, but it's as if my social capabilities quickly go offline.

Almost every social interaction with more than two people leaves me immensely drained and I struggle to get a word in edgewise. Below three, I'm a normal human being. How am I supposed to network in a big city when this is so difficult for me? Anyone have advice?

Talk about biased cultural transmission: the stylistic reason why men don't button the bottom button of sports coats and blazers is simply because King Edward VII was so fat he physically could not button his.pic.twitter.com/lVGYJCXwNk

The invention of glassblowing revolutionized ancient glass production. It roughly coincided with the establishment of the Roman Empire in the 1st C BC, which enhanced the spread and dominance of this new technology. Glass cinerary urns

Despite what anyone says, it's not "racist" to point out that the consumption of bats is one of the most common vectors for a plethora of novel diseases globally. If there really was a new "bat soup" phenomenon in Wuhan, it's a well educated guess to start looking there.

Here is the start of something I did a while ago. I should get back to it at some point.https://archeothoughts.wordpress.com/2017/06/01/two-rejections-of-human-exceptionalism/ …

Broader phylogenetic awareness is a large blindspot for many studying human behavior, and it's not a discipline-specific issue. This anthropocentrism is everywhere, yet it's impossible to have a conversation about human uniqueness without talk over what other animals have first!

Currently reading a popular book written by a popular author in "behavioral sciences Twitter" and am extremely disappointed in the amount of ink spent claiming a suite of typical mammalian traits are "unique human features," without any reference to OTHER animals.

Missale Romanum Glagolitice, written in Istria in Glagolitic script in 1483, is the 1st printed book in New Church Slavonic, and the 1st missal in Europe not in Latin script. It was also a bold act of defiance against Papacy's imposition of Latin Rite and Latin script in Croatia.pic.twitter.com/ymSb9bPK87

This was a fun chat where I got to talk a little bit more about things I usually don't touch on: Turchinian elite competition, technology shock a la Janet Yellen, Leslie White, and a bunch more.https://twitter.com/agora_politics/status/1223675661421817858 …

Incredibly, the right foreleg has an inscription in the ancient Etruscan language; most recently thought to read TINSCVIL, meaning: "Offering belonging to Tinia", indicating that the bronze also acted as a votive object to the supreme Etruscan god Tinia, equivalent to Zeus.pic.twitter.com/SeToBNgXyR

Actually, I will say this about vinyl: even your optometrist will tell you that the clearest lens strength is not necessarily the best (encourages visual strain). Different system, but I do believe it's good to have a bit of "noise" in the perceptual system.https://twitter.com/LTF_01/status/1223231677163544584 …

When I was a high schooler, it took me weeks to find this rock on top of a mountain near my hometown (NW China), carved with what I now believe to be Mongolia Argali sheep, a species already extinct in the area. The animals must have been worshipped by people thousands years ago.pic.twitter.com/9beAn97GZj
