Don't know what social housing is like in the US, if any. In the UK District Councils provide such housing but there aren't enough & the wait can be quite lengthy. I live in a council house which I got quickly but that was due to special circumstances.

social housing in the US lol. we have multiple empty homes for empty homeless person, but none of the houses here are state-owned to my knowledge. I may be wrong, of course, but real estate is king here
