This year marks 20 years since the Department of Media and Communications was founded! Professor Shani Orgad was the first appointment in the department in 2003, and has seen both the department and media landscape undergo incredible changes in the 20 years since. #PartOfLSE

The new UN High Seas Treaty is a historic agreement that sets out the key principles, obligations and processes that all states must adhere to when operating in the high seas for the protection of marine life and the fair use of marine genetic resources collected in those waters.

These are known as Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction (ABNJ), also called the “high seas”, where all nations have the freedom to navigate and conduct scientific research with very few restrictions.
