If leadership elections happened after 1/6 and shutting up about this was understood to be part of the gig, I don't know that she would have sought the job again, let alone been re-affirmed. It just so happens the job description changed rather unexpectedly two plus years in.

Well stated by

At the end of the day, "can a vocal Trump antagonist remain in leadership?" is a less interesting (and more self-evident) question than whether said antagonist can keep her seat in a deep red state. Far more room to maneuver when you're speaking for yourself.

Seems like a misread and also a false tension. 99% of the conference does not want to litigate this stuff on a daily basis, whether or not that's indicative of crypto-fascist tendencies. Much easier/more pleasant to avoid the subject.

Until now I figured that LC was worth the hassle as she could be a token signal to the always-GOP, but Trump-hating voting bloc, giving that important swing group cover to continue to vote GOP in 2022. Now it's looking more like an Aaron Rodgers/Packers relationship

There seemed like a chance at the time that you could have a cathartic vote internally, mend fences, and turn sights on beating dems, but clearly that's not possible.

That makes this sort of a tragedy, unstoppable force and immovable object. Shame it's coming after the farce.

Lost in all of this is the somewhat empty authority of these leadership positions compared to, say, 10 years ago. Conference chair in an era of social media with a flattened comms structure just isn't what it used to be.

Another rung at best, and lately not a very good one at that
