New unemployment insurance claims fell 6K (3%) with seasonal adjustment and 64K (22%) without last week. Such a disjuncture with press releases from big firms that drive headlines. Why? Some announced layoffs happen at delay. Some have new jobs lined up immediately.

It's still the best jobs market in our lifetime and the economy is growing. That's great. What's bad is that the Fed still wants to put millions out of work even though inflation has cooled since summer of last year.
