A spokesman for Nissan Europe said: "We deny such a contingency plan exists. We’ve modelled every possible ramification of Brexit and the fact remains that our entire business both in the UK and in Europe is not sustainable in the event of WTO tariffs.” Is the only truth.

When it comes to likely Brexit deal, we've gone from 'exact same benefits', to 'frictionless trade', to some friction, to now a choice btw Canada style deal OR what govt is calling Australia deal which is not a deal, but WTO arrangement with tariffs and the Irish protocol

The PM, in answer to Australian journalist, says a free trade deal with Australia is “hugely important”. Interesting... Apparently a free trade deal with Australia (exports $7.3bn) is vital but we can live without an FTA with the EU (exports $379bn).

Johnson’s speech is a nonsense. We love free trade. But we hate the institution which brought us free trade, the EU

Boris Johnson is gearing up for a no-deal Brexit masqueraded as an Australian-style agreement that will hollow out our trade. Liberal Democrats will continue to oppose his dangerous plans and fight to maintain our most important trading relationship with the EU.

Read beyond the headlines you idiot! “We’ve modelled every possible ramification of Brexit and the fact remains that our entire business both in the UK and in Europe is not sustainable in the event of WTO tariffs"

Keep calm & negotiate ! The extent to which the 🇪🇺 can be open and make concessions will depend strongly on the extent to which the 🇬🇧 government will be willing to cooperate. Obviously, a deal can never be as good as EU membership.

Four things have become clear this weekend: 1) Brexit is not ‘done’. 2) There will be no national healing. 3) We will not have ‘frictionless’ trade with the EU. 4) Johnson will seek to pass the buck by pursuing a strategy of confrontation with Europe.

  10. So right your work to raise Nazanin’s case has been so impressive. I’m so glad Samira will continue it, and so sad you are no longer able to raise it yourself.

Pause for a second. Every newspaper has bias. That’s OK. But this I think is a 1st. A national broadsheet newspaper knowingly publishes, as its front page banner headline, an outright deliberate 100% lie. When you reach this point - one has to wonder how democracy can survive.

Tariffs mean higher prices in the shops and levies on exports. They mean poorer individuals and job losses. So how many people voted for this? Johnson: I’d rather accept tariffs than obey EU rules

Contrary to what Boris Johnson says, a Canada style trade deal with the EU would lead to checks on the border between the UK & Northern Ireland & would mean an incredibly complicated set of protocols & regulations would need to be introduced. -

A deal with the EU "like Australia's" is no deal in all but name To deliberately hollow out our trade is nothing short of a scorched earth policy for Britain’s economy This isn’t a vision - it’s a nightmare

‘He won by running a vacuous campaign of gimmicky photo-ops and studiously avoiding tough interrogations. In that mission he was aided and abetted by a disgracefully sycophantic press.’ An excellent summary

  17. So sad. We will continue to fight the Tory hard Brexit, MEPs or not. A hard Brexit would do enormous damage to many industries in the East of England. Remain parties must work together for a close future relationship.

Today is an odd day. Nothing has changed, but everything is different. Over the last three years, I've done everything I could to try and stop Brexit. I also became a parent - changing my perspectives more than I thought possible. We lost, but I'm proud that I tried.

BREAKING: UK leaves European Union. It’s finally over*. *With the exception of endless trade negotiations, Brexit being blamed for everything that goes wrong in the foreseeable future and decades of bickering over whether or not it was a good idea.
