Chicago has lost over a quarter million Black residents since 2000. I want to know why. (I have my theories, but you know.) If you're a Black Chicagoan who is thinking of leaving and/or your friends/family/neighbors have left the city, I want to talk to you. Please RT/share!

Participants needed for focus group! If you're over 18 and a resident of the city of Chicago who identifies as Black and you have considered moving or your friends/family have moved, visit beyondschoolslab.org/survey or call 773.234.3193. Participants receive a $40 Target gift card.

Folks are shocked there’s pro-Trump ads & cop-aganda? Have folks not been following events of the last 3 years, when Trump told the NFL to “get that son of a bitch off the field” for protesting racism and they did? This is all about telling us negroes to stay in line.

Please please please be aware that just because your PhD acceptance letter says fully-funded it does not necessarily mean that funding is sufficient for your needs.

Every single no you give is a yes to the things you really want to do. Every single no someone gives you is a chance to find out where the yes really is.

This impeachment trial is a demonstration of how the most powerful individuals in society set the rules for themselves. The rules for this trial are voted on, determined by the very people who r impacted by its outcome. Poorer ppl are simply processed thru a pre-set court system.

Heads up: “Cash gifts in increments of several hundred dollars stuffed into envelopes.” Keeping it classy for Black voters. The cynicism knows no bounds.

I wish news outlets would stop using the word “suspect” to refer to a person simply because they’ve had an encounter with police.

Cops lie about stuff that harms people (puts them in jail & worse). Every one of these lies is worse than what Jussie Smollett did. But white people in Chicago media are so pro-cop they seem exceedingly racist.

If you claim to want a different system, to want reform and change and an end to unjust policing and mass incarceration but it's also deeply important to you--more important than anything else--that this man be drawn and quartered... you're talking out both sides of your mouth.

The level of rage and spilled ink is really just not warranted. But it's magnified by the deep-seated discomfort some White voters (who otherwise claim to want criminal justice reform?) feel, spurred by the sense that they were *tricked* by this Black man who MUST BE PUNISHED.

Jussie got over on us. It sucks. It was bad. It's also not the most important criminal justice issue facing Chicago right now. It's not in the top 5. Or top 20. For instance, from 2011 to 2018, the city spent half a billion dollars on police misconduct.
