yup. why apologize for your argument, especially if you stand by it? this apology was basically, "sorry I made you sad but I'm still right." If he thinks his argument is good and true, why is he apologizing? If he is apologizing, why is he sticking by his argument?

Here’s the thing: the critiques weren’t abt feelings. They were scholarly, methodological, & yes political. I didn’t see anyone saying they had hurt feelings but that’s the tenor of the apology. It’s clichés not a response, esp since it still characterizes presentism as “flawed.”

i mean obviously he's apologizing because a gang of vicious weirdos is attacking him and he just wants you all to stop. like you get your weird harassment campaigns are only ever about exercising raw power right
