This morning a Tesla sedan driving outbound Laguna Canyon Road in “autopilot” collides with a parked @LagunaBeachPD unit. Officer was not in the unit at the time of the crash and minor injuries were sustained to the Tesla driver. #lagunabeach #police #teslapic.twitter.com/7sAs8VgVQ3

Looks like vehicle hit LRfender of the Police car with the RFfender of the TS. Both cars appear to be injured enough to be written off as total losses.

Are we blaming people's ignorance and mistakes on autopilot so we feel better? If you are in a fast traveling object with enough mass to kill, why are you not providing your awareness as a fail safe to protect your own life?

Autopilot has apparently provided a number of people a false sense of security. Tesla has not really helped with this perception with how they have promoted the feature, and the changes made to AP behavior by OTA that drivers are unaware of, even having read release notes.
