Absolutely. I waitressed, worked retail, even delivered pizzas when I was younger. There’s no shame in hard work. Shame on anyone who demeans blue collar work. It’s the backbone of America.
Yet they also demean those with elite educations as well. I come from a blue collar immigrant fam. I had a paper route & worked as a cashier/bagger at a grocery store even when I was getting my undergrad degree from Brown. Not sure why having an honest job is worthy of mockery.
I worked every day for 50 years and eventually earned 3 degrees... I am proud of my working class roots and my education

Did you work at Almacs on the East side? Brown is my neck of the woods. Small world. My dad worked at Brown University many years ago. He was an engineer who was charged with the operation of heat and AC on the entire campus. He loved his job!
Nope. I actually worked at Shaw's Supermarket back home in Worcester on breaks and had a work study job working in one of the offices while actually at Brown. At one pt. I added a once of month biz analysis job for an insurance company (Allmerica Financial) at home as well.
I was just discussing this exact subject with my husband. When people attack @AOC for once having a part time customer service job in college, they are really attacking millions of Americans like me. I take it very personal. A job is a job, dammit.
Having a good work ethic and a job escapes a %of our population. I love working, and I love building my future in turn. I can’t imagine being limited to a government handout. The sky is the limit if you choose correctly.
They insult and put down everyone- its their only way to feel superior.
The Republican party, esp the Trumpists, depend on appealing to people who feel inherently "superior" to those they consider "other."
It's why they consider "others'" votes illegal.
