My socks appear to have gone viral! For fellow knitter-Classicists, I think I'm going to write up the pattern properly (and maybe work out a women's size version too as these ones were for a man's foot) and then stick it up on Ravelry.

Once I've sorted the pattern, it strikes me this could be an awesome way of raising some more funding for my theatrical collaboration with
@potentialdiffer to produce a show inspired by Greek papyrus fragments. You can already support them here: https://www.potentialdifference.org.uk/support .Prikaži ovu nit -
And obviously come and see the show
#Fragments too if you like off beat and quirky creative Greek stuff. It will be opening in London at the end of April and in Oxford for 2 nights end of May. I will definitely be tweeting details. Maybe I can get the socks onstage!Prikaži ovu nit

My daughters say “wow” and “awesome” and I would definitely buy a pair to go with the waistcoat my grandmother made for me! I wonder if I have the pattern- I have some of hers...

That is the vintage waistcoat pattern that inspired them! I bought it online years ago from a vintage pattern store and I have never seen another copy. Amazing that your grandmother had it too!

Amazing! I would love the pattern if it’s available somewhere?

The fairisle I basically made up, inspired by a vintage ancient Greek waistcoat pattern I found a few years ago (not in print - I stumbled across it). Then I adapted a basic toe up sock pattern. I'd be happy to share the chart I made and the numbers for the sock structure

Worthy of Penelope (but don’t undo your work).
-
I actually did have to undo half the first sock because I hadn't thought it through properly when designing the fairisle and it didn't have enough stretch in the fabric. But they are staying as they are now!

Unfeasibly good! I am in total awe. How long did that take you?! And can you kit out team
@OU_Classics in its entirety?! -
Well they were meant to be a Christmas present. And I think I only started them in November so it was cutting it fine, given I only have a limited knitting window per day. But I might have made it if I hadn’t had to rethink the design and undo half the first sock.
