UP made a great step but to be fair, Hyogo prefectural government released 1-m DEM/DSM covering its entire area on 10 January 2020. https://www.geospatial.jp/ckan/dataset/2010-2018-hyogo-geo-dem … Also, Shizuoka pref. gov. made some of its pointcloud data available back in 2018. https://pointcloud.pref.shizuoka.jp/lasmap/ankenmap

Excellent to see these data made open. Any guesses on the first open
#lidar point cloud dataset in Asia?@OpenTopography released the pre- & post- Kumamoto, Japan earthquake point clouds (https://doi.org/10.5069/G9XP7303 … & https://doi.org/10.5069/G9SX6B9T …) in May 2018, but are these the first? -
For
#opendata to become something that Asian governments make a general geospatial policy, it is probably important that *they* decide to do publishing under *their* license terms on *their* download portals so that *they* receive all praise and create envy for others to copy.

Ahh, there was me thinking it was the whole of the Philippines, but actually it is just 20km around the Taal volcano. Better than nothing, but given how much is clearly available on the map key opening up the whole lot would be a great move.
