My older brother and neighbors helped out. His story from that time is one of my favorites.

He was 13 years old, and saw the news footage of the fire. Together with our neighbor's family, he volunteered. He helped from mornings and evenings for 5 days, to place books on pallets and prepare them for transport to get freeze dried. (1/2)

Even though it was after the fire, he was still in awe of the library. It was actually his first time at the library. (2/2)
