Think this is right. There is no such thing as intrinsic value, probably.https://twitter.com/PythiaR/status/1261330832775475201 …

Interesting. Am I creating value for your Twitter brand every time I like, RT or comment? And Likewise?

I do believe so, by using our signaling power to imbue value on another. Just followed back. Really good point.

Intrinsic value does and does not exist, just as markets are efficient except they can’t truly be. Imho. The theories are still useful tools even if they can only ever be rough approximations of reality. The key is not to confuse the theoretical framework with reality.

Of course! A buyout shop that marks its book to whatever value it pleases and THEN raises additional rounds based on its “low vol” performance does exactly that.

This is why private equity is so different to stock picking. It’s less about price vs valuation but more like ‘are we the people most capable of altering this business’ value?’. It’s more a qualitative question on relationships and capabilities instead of ‘what does my DCF say’.
