conservative and even communitarian shorthand. Similar to (not exact) quote: "tradition and norms are the solution to a problem that has been forgotten." Implies that u get rid of the norm, the problem will re-appear. Perhaps norm too successful and appears to obviate own need.

I think it's not as broadly applicable as "love your neighbour" - so not for everyone. It's really a principle built solely for obnoxious nerds (like me) who want to tear down anything they can't explain *right now*.
