In-N-Out over Shake Shack but it was pretty good. It’s not really close though.

Do you rate Five Guys?

Yep I would rate In-N-Out > Five Guys > Shake Shack for my personal palate

Shake shack is a more “premium” burger compared to In-n-Out. They’re really going for a different audience / experience imo. I’m more partial to their chicken sandwhich. In-n-out will always reign supreme in my heart and stomach.

I started writing my investment thesis so I'm very curious! Spoiler: it compares shake shack directly to in n out for exactly the reason you describe. I had the same experience.

I think part of your investment thesis *should* be the abundance of inexpensive leases, equipment, and employees on the other side of CoVid. Growing like crazy, tons of good will from the restaurant industry. Danny has game and folksy charm, he’s the WB of hospitality.

They are actually fairly similar IMO. Shake Shak is objectively “better” but they’re on the same branch of the burger tree.
