Says me, a former basher.
Love critics AND bashers but I feel for the latter because I understand the insecurities behind it.
Others can’t improve if we turn our backs on them for their mistakes. Still love the bashers.

The best science is focused on disproving a hypothesis. So intelligent bashingshould probably be taken as sign of respect ( doesn’t always shine through in 140 character tweets )

Yes, to me this is the heart of criticism. Bashing, to me, is more about cruelty than criticism.

I have a few variants of a rule for myself (which I unknowingly break a lot) 1. Give encouragement. Don't seek it. 2. When on receiving side take the message, leave out the tone. But when dishing it out, tone and message goes together. Etc. Etc.

I would add, Liz, that while snark sells on twitter, ultimately it creates negative energy within the person doing the snarking. For me, I find I enjoy the platform more when I try to stay agnostic and stay away from conversations involving strong opinions.
