I know my life is where I want it to be when I’ve been watching half hour videos about the history of Pokémon speed run records at two in the morning.

But seriously these videos are fascinating. Imagine playing through a video game thousands of times to shave 1/10th of a second off a world record. It’s bonkers in the best way.https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCtUbO6rBht0daVIOGML3c8w …

Part of the enjoyment is reliving the nostalgia of playing NES as a kid, but I mostly enjoy these deep dives down rabbit holes I've never heard of before. Who knew there was such a thriving community of speed runners??

Yeah it’s bonkers. There’s a cool series on YT called “Games Done Quick” that hosts events and raises $ for charity. The videos are cool because you usually get commentary from another speed runner about the current runner’s strategies. Fun to watch sometimes.
