Maybe the co is behaving unethically by committing fraud.
But as punters, it gives us another aspect to bet on. Will the fraud stop and be the co’s undoing? Or will it continue, and propel it to greater heights?
Seems like we should consider this before shorting. $TSLA $TSLAQ

Cynics even take it a step further - can’t recall whether this was with regard to Madoff or someone else, but story goes that some investors‘ reaction to hearing (in private) that the books were (probably) cooked was: „Perfect - that means they’ll never miss their numbers!“

Interesting point for sure. There is definitely a metagame to this that I think many investors refuse to even consider exploiting. Could be a source of +EV for those who do?

The problem with unethical behavior (or fraud, as you put it) is that it becomes really hard to get a clear picture of what your investment really looks like. You might get lucky and unintentionally profit from it today, but you may soon be on the receiving end of their ethics.

This concept of dealing in the "grey" area to attain an escape velocity which projects u to the next orbit is a fascinating. At the country level also it can be seen. UK & other European countries became prosperous by doing lot of crazy things in its colonies. India included.

The ‘fake it till you make it’ model. It’s a binary outcome but it’s out there in the real world for sure.
