Copywriters often believe that because “writing” is in the name, they’re professional writers. They’re not. Technical perfection detracts because it takes away tricks to conjure excitement, intrigue, and urgency. There’s nothing worse than a copywriting grammar nazi.

I agree. I learned writing via Enid Blyton, then Harry Potter, then Dresden Files. Very little of it was via traditional means. The emotions invoked in stories carry greater learning lessons for most writers versus what schools teach. In essence, emotions r missing in schooling.

This is probably also bcuz public education systems are reduced to the lowest possible denominator for educational standards. You can't exclude 90% of the population from a schooling system. Ppl need to learn basics. But basics don't xlate well to copy.
