This is very confusing. The City site says we can recycle plastic bags and plastics 1-7 which is contradictory to the NYT article. Can you please clarify? Is our recycling going to the landfill?

Exactly! Those takeout containers, if clean, have the symbol of a recyclable item. So do yogurt containers.
