Always swim near a lifeguard! Strong rip currents and elevated surf expected through Wednesday at beaches.

Picture of waves on beach. Elevated surf and strong rip currents are expected for the Los Angeles and Ventura County Beaches as well as along the Central Coast through Wednesday. Surf heights of 4-6 feet with local sets to 7 feet are expected for L.A. and Ventura Counties and up to 6-9 feet should affect the Central Coast beaches. The largest surf is expected on south facing shores. Persons going to the beach are advised to stay off rocks & jetties & avoid beaches with large shore pound. Be alert for sneaker waves: suddenly larger and more powerful waves that may arrive after a long lull. Never turn your back to the water and always swim near a lifeguard.
