experienced to's what is the best way to go about finding venues for tournaments, particularly venues for regional sized events
For a more professional approach you can send an email. I’ve used a store in the mall before and that was when I emailed. I’ve also ran at a comic shop and just walked in and asked as far as that went. Negotiate a venue fee and usually places will accept that as payment.

Like it really just depends on the place, but the more professional you are about it the better it looks. Be willing and open to negotiate venue prices. Some (like a pizza place or such) might want you to pay a flat fee for a room instead of a cut.
