The nationwide tornado emergency map is turning into Rainbow Nerds candy. QC'ing a few more years and the map should be out tomorrow or Monday.

By far the toughest thing about living in the Northeast. Everyone told me to be ready for the cold and the snow, but no one told me to be ready for 80% of winter being cloudy.

Mike Morrell’s UNC Asheville Bulldogs are now 16-6 overall and in first place in the Big South with an 8-1 record. Drew Pember entered tonight’s game averaging 19.2 points and 9.7 boards. 48 tonight is the most for any D-1 player this season. twitter.com/GoodmanHoops/s…
I'm working on the map... but Houston event was the *southern most tornado emergency* ever issued by NWS (data: 1999 to 2023). #TXwx

I'm a big Formula 1 fan... but um... I don't know about this one.

I was a freshman in high school when I first joined Twitter. My class is now planning a 10-year reunion for this year 😅

IMO, NOHRSC snowfall maps are the best collection of meteorological data we have. Very high quality stuff and we've built a nice database of 14 years now.

❄️ This winter has been snowy in the West, but how snowy? Here are the seasonal snowfall totals & departure from normal. The higher elevations have had 20-40 ft of snow & are already above the seasonal average! For much of the East, this season has featured below normal snowfall
Map of the United States showing the seasonal snowfall totals for winter 2022-2023 from October 1st to January 21st. Several feet of snow have fallen in the West, with 10-30 feet total in the higher elevations in the mountains. The Upper Midwest and Northeast have also received several feet of snow. The Mid-Atlantic, Mid-Mississippi Valley and parts of the Central and Southern Plains have received less than a foot so far this season.
Map of the United States showing the seasonal snowfall departure from the 14 year average for the 2022-2023 winter so far through January 21st. The higher elevations of the mountains in the West have received over 3 feet more snow than normal. Areas from the southern Plains to the Ohio Valley, Mid-Atlantic and parts of the Northeast have received below normal snowfall. Some higher elevations are one foot below normal.

Now I have two different weather stations for my family network. I brought them Ambient in 2021 before moving out so they brought me AcuRite station for my current location 10 miles away. Comparing these two will be interesting!

I was feeling wishful about AMS coming to a place like Raleigh, but made a few good points on why annual AMS conferences are usually at bigger hubs like ATL, DEN, BOS, HOU, etc.

Replying to @KyleNoelWx @JackSillin and 2 others
Neither Raleigh nor Charlotte have enough convention center space and/or hotels for a week-long, 5k-attendee conference like AMS, with the plenary, breakout, and exhibit space requirements.

Good reason for the strong MCD... this supercell cycled and is producing another significant tornado. #ALwx

A+ MCD here from Bryan Smith. A likely EF3+ tornado ongoing in Autauga County AL. Discrete supercell will be absorbed by squall line and still pose a damaging with threat even after tornado threat lessens.

Four-panel radar screenshot of the Selma supercell right now. Tornado emergency issued for this tornado, which is likely to be significant given the NROT of 3.22 and the debris flying to above 15,000 feet. #ALwx
